The present town grew out of a Civil War-era Union encampment, was platted in 1867 and incorporated in 1869. Set where U.S. 70 meets State Route 47, about 10 miles east of Dickson, White Bluff has grown from 486 residents in 1960 to 3,862 in 2020.
